WhatsApp is developing a new feature that will allow channel administrators to schedule updates for automatic publication at a specified date and time. The feature is currently in the development phase and has not yet been made available to beta users.
The scheduled posting capability was observed in the WhatsApp Android beta version 2.26.33.5. This new tool is designed specifically for channel administrators who regularly post content and want their updates to reach followers automatically at a predetermined time.
To schedule an update, the admin must press and hold the send button, after which an option to select the date and time will appear. Once set, WhatsApp will automatically publish the update at that exact moment, without requiring the admin to be online or have the app open.
This hands-off approach ensures that content goes live exactly when intended, even if the admin is away from their device.
Scheduled updates will also be visible in the channel’s info section. Here, admins can view the pending posts before publication and potentially manage them—offering a clear overview of what is set to go out and when.
For channel admins who rely on consistent publishing schedules, this feature removes the need to be present at the moment of posting. It enables better planning and ensures that followers receive updates at optimal times, even across different time zones.
WhatsApp has not yet announced an official release date or general availability timeline. The feature remains in development, and there is no word on when it will roll out to beta users or the wider public.
