Uber has sold its entire stake in Serve Robotics, the autonomous sidewalk delivery robot company that spun out of the ride-hailing firm in 2021. The sale was disclosed in a regulatory filing reported by Bloomberg. Uber had been reducing its stake throughout 2025.

Serve Robotics originated as Postmates X, the robotics division of Postmates, which Uber acquired in 2020 for $2.65 billion. The division spun off a year later. Uber partnered with Serve in 2022 and expanded the partnership in May 2023 to deploy up to 2,000 bots on Uber’s app in U.S. markets.

Serve’s CEO, Ali Kashani, said on an August 6 earnings call that the companies have differing views on scaling their shared autonomous fleet. He noted that delivery volume through Uber declined in Q2 for the first time in 17 quarters, while deliveries with another partner grew nearly 50% in a single quarter. Kashani said Serve did not expect to renew the partnership when it expires in early 2027.
