Google has introduced the Pixel Watch 5, its latest smartwatch, at the Made by Google 2026 event. The new wearable was unveiled on August 12 alongside the Pixel 11 series, and will be available for purchase starting August 20 in select markets, including the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia.
The Pixel Watch 5 retains the round design of its predecessor and is offered in 41mm and 45mm case sizes, with both Wi-Fi and LTE variants. It features a round AMOLED display with a peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits. Under the hood, an accelerated version of the Snapdragon Wear W5 Gen 2 chipset powers the device, delivering a 12% performance improvement over the previous generation. Google has also doubled the built-in storage to 64GB, up from 32GB on the earlier model.
A major addition to the Pixel Watch 5 is the integration of Gemini, Google's AI assistant. According to Google, Gemini is designed to offer more personalized and proactive assistance based on the user's activities and context. This integration is part of a broader effort to bring Gemini across its latest Pixel devices.
Health and fitness tracking remain a key focus. Google describes the Pixel Watch 5 as offering its most advanced sleep tracking yet on a Pixel Watch, alongside improved health and fitness monitoring. The smartwatch includes loss-of-pulse detection, SpO2 monitoring, ECG, and skin temperature tracking. It also has built-in GPS for outdoor activities. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 6, Wi-Fi 6, NFC, and UWB, with IP68 and 5ATM ratings for dust and water resistance. Google has also expanded its Health Guardian system with additional health trend insights, though the availability of some health features may vary by market and depend on regulatory approval.
Battery capacity has been increased on both models. The 41mm version houses a 332mAh battery, while the 45mm model comes with a 465mAh battery. Both versions offer 64GB of storage for apps, music, and other content.
In terms of design, the 41mm Pixel Watch 5 will be available in Matte Black, Polished Silver, Champagne Gold, and Satin Pyrite. The 45mm model will come in the same finishes except Champagne Gold. Google is also introducing several band options, including a Stephen Curry special edition, which is expected to launch later, with reports pointing to a September 3 release.
Pricing for the Pixel Watch 5 starts at $399 for the 41mm Wi-Fi model and $429 for the 45mm Wi-Fi version. LTE models cost more, with cellular connectivity adding around $100 to the starting price. In the UK, the smartwatch starts at around £369, while the starting price in Australia is reported at A$649.
