Meta has announced a new Mac app for Meta AI that introduces built-in system-wide dictation. The application can also analyze the current screen and respond to user questions based on the on-screen context, leveraging its Muse Spark model.
According to the company, the dictation feature operates across all applications, similar to other tools like Wispr Flow, Superwhisper, and Monologue. This move follows Google’s update last month, which added a system-wide dictation feature to its Gemini app for Mac.
The Mac app release is part of a broader Meta AI update aimed at business owners. Merchants can now connect their Instagram and Facebook accounts, Meta ad campaigns, and Google Workspace (including Gmail, Docs, Sheets, and Slides) accounts to Meta AI. By asking queries to the AI assistant, users can gain valuable insights from these connected services.
Meta AI can deliver information about campaign performance and audience engagement metrics, helping users understand which posts have performed well. The company also noted that users can access intelligence on competitors based on publicly available data.
With the new Meta AI integration with business tools, the assistant is capable of creating proposal decks, drafting documents, and generating spreadsheets.
Meta has increasingly focused on making its AI tools available to businesses for automated customer support and inquiries across its apps, including WhatsApp and Instagram. During the company’s Q2 2026 earnings call, CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated that there is a significant opportunity to sell agents to businesses and automate work on their behalf.
