Six Planets to Align in August 2026

Astronomy enthusiasts are set to witness an interesting alignment of planets in August. According to claims, Jupiter, Mercury, Mars, Uranus, Saturn, and Neptune will appear in the same direction in the sky before sunrise on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

While this phenomenon has no formal scientific term, it is commonly referred to as a ‘planet parade.’ NASA explains that planets often appear along an imaginary line or arc in the sky, known as the ecliptic, when viewed from Earth.

However, the alignment does not mean all six planets will be visible to the naked eye. According to NASA, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn can be seen without a telescope under suitable conditions, while Uranus may require binoculars or a telescope, and Neptune requires a telescope.

Pre-dawn light and obstacles near the horizon could also hinder observation. A clear, open horizon is necessary to spot planets at low altitude, particularly Mercury and Jupiter. Astronomers clarify that a planet parade refers to planets appearing near the same path in the sky from Earth’s perspective, not a physical alignment in space.
