xAI, the company led by Elon Musk, has introduced Imagine Image 2.0. The new version is now available as a quality mode in the Grok web-based Imagine service and its iOS and Android apps.

The model is designed for creative tasks requiring accurate image layout, clear text rendering, and consistency of recurring visual elements. According to the company, Image 2.0 can follow detailed instructions, arrange typography and layout in complex designs, and keep small text legible.

It can preserve user-provided objects in new images or edits. API access is not yet available and is planned for a later release.

Editing tools include a magic wand and segmentation for selecting and modifying specific parts of an image. Users can also remove backgrounds and save images in transparent format. The model supports up to five reference images in a single generation and offers a smart resize feature with aspect ratios including square, landscape, 1:2, 9:16, and 2:1.
