Anthropic, the artificial intelligence model maker, has reported a continued surge in revenue, with its annualized revenue run rate exceeding $65 billion at the end of July, according to a Bloomberg report on Monday. This marks a substantial increase from $47 billion in May and a dramatic rise from just $9 billion at the end of last year. The annualized revenue run rate is a projection of a full year's revenue based on a recent, shorter period, indicating the company's rapid growth trajectory.
Anthropic did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding these figures.
According to the Financial Times, investors in Anthropic anticipate that the company will maintain a similar growth rate for the remainder of the year, with projections for 2026 falling between $100 billion and $120 billion. This optimistic outlook underscores the company's strong market position.
Meanwhile, rival OpenAI has also seen significant revenue growth, doubling its revenue to $40 billion from $20 billion at the end of 2025, as reported by Bloomberg last week. While the two companies may calculate their revenue metrics differently, Anthropic's growth rate has captured investor attention more than OpenAI's.
Both Anthropic and OpenAI have filed confidential paperwork for initial public offerings (IPOs). However, Anthropic is expected to enter the public markets before OpenAI, potentially as soon as this fall. According to the Financial Times, Anthropic will seek a public valuation of $2 trillion or more, which would make it the largest market debut on record.
Anthropic was last valued at $965 billion in late May, following a funding round that raised $65 billion. This latest valuation reflects the company's rapid ascent in the AI industry, positioning it as a major player ahead of its public listing.
