WhatsApp is testing a new feature for Android users that will allow them to see previews of recently shared photos, videos, and stickers without opening a conversation. According to WhatsApp Beta Info, the media preview feature has been introduced in the Android beta version 2.26.32.11 within the chat list.
Currently, if the latest message in a conversation is a photo or video, WhatsApp only displays a label indicating whether it is a photo or video. To understand the nature or content of the media, users have to open the chat.
With the new feature, a small thumbnail preview will appear alongside the media label. If the latest message is a photo, a small glimpse of the image will be shown with the photo label, while in the case of a video, a preview will appear alongside the video label.
This change will make it easier for users to determine what type of media has been shared in which conversation recently, without having to open the chat.
For now, the feature is available to Android beta testers, while an official announcement regarding its availability for general users has not yet been made.
