The first known computer virus was created by two Pakistani brothers, according to reports. Basit Farooq Alvi and Amjad Farooq Alvi developed the virus, named Brain, in Lahore in January 1986.

The virus was designed to protect the brothers’ medical software from unauthorized copying. It spread through 5.25-inch floppy disks and contained a hidden copyright message with their shop’s address and phone numbers. Unlike many later viruses, Brain did not damage data or crash systems; it had a defensive purpose.
